Siirtolaistapaaminen Toholammilla 10.-11.7.2010

Toholammin kunta, Kotiseutuyhdistys sekä Hymy-hanke toivottavat kaikki toholampilaislähtöiset siirtolaiset sukulaisineen ja ystävineen tervetulleiksi siirtolaisten kokoontumiseen 10.-11.7. Tapahtuman ohjelmassa on mm. lauantaina 10.7. illanvietto Hirvikoskella ja sunnuntaina 11.7. kaikille avoin pitäjäpäiväjuhla teemana siirtolaisuus.

Emigrant Convention in Toholampi July 10th - 11th 2010

The municipality of Toholampi, in collaboration with the Toholampi local heritage association (Kotiseutuyhdistys) and businesses around the Toholampi region (Hymy-hanke) wish to welcome all emigrants from the area and of course their families and friends - to an emigrant convention in Toholampi. The convention takes place on the second weekend of July 2010. The programme includes social evening day July 10th as well as a church service and an emigrant celebration on Sunday July 11th.

Toholampi has been one of the most notable emigration areas in Finland over the past hundred or so years. The most popular destination countries for emigrants have been Australia, Canada, Sweden and USA.

Bus tour around Toholampi is cancelled.

Social evening at the Countryhotel Hirvikoski. Communal singing with Toholammin Mieslaulajat (Toholampi male choir), grilling sausages over open fire, coffee served. Service charge 5 Euros.

Sun July 11, 10 am
Sunday service at the Toholampi church. After the service, a guided tour around the church will be given in Finnish and English.

Sun July 11, 12:30 pm
Coffee at the Toholampi municipal hall.

Sun July 11, 1 pm
Emigrant celebration in Kulttuurisali (Culture Hall) at the municipal hall.

Programme includes:
Welcoming words from Anna-Maija Syri, Chair of the Toholampi municipal council

Speech: Emigration from Toholampi by Jari Ojala, professor of history from the University of Jyväskylä.

Musical performances from a brass ensemble Toholammin Soittokunta and Toholammin Mieslaulajat (Toholampi male choir)

Recital by Lampin Lausujat (Toholampi recital group)
